Known as a mature beach-side town and the first established resort area in Bali, Sanur is actually a great place to visit and enjoy, especially when you are on vacation with your family. The area offers dozens of chill and nice places not only for the youngsters but also for parents. Here are some of the places that we recommend you to visit when you are in Sanur.
Pantai Matahari Terbit
Watching the sun to finally greet the universe after its long nap is probably a great thing to do to begin the day. Sanur Beach is always listed as one of Bali’s best places to enjoy sunrise. Nevertheless, if you do not really like crowds, we recommend you to visit Pantai Matahari Terbit (Sunrise Beach), which is located about 6 kilometres from Denpasar.
If you are lucky and the weather is amazingly clear, you would be able to see Nusa Lembongan island from the far. With your music on and earphone set, Pantai Matahari Terbit is also recommended for your morning jogging and cycling.

Just beside the Hotel Hyatt Regency, there is a small neighbourhood that offers good options for foods and one of them is Warung Kecil. Just like its name, the place is so small and might only be able to accommodate less than 20 people. However, do not get surprised by the line of people (mostly foreign tourists) who are willing to wait to be served. The special thing about this tiny warung is its homemade, healthy and clean food. You are able to choose what is on the menu or choose your own food for your plate.

Enjoying hot Bali’s tropical air would never be complete without ice cream on hand. Massimo really knows how to steal attention of people who are walking in its neighbourhood. You would be tempted with the colourful ice cream display as if each of them says, “Try me! Try me!”. Oh well, choosing what ice cream flavours you want on your cup might be the hardest thing to do there. May the odds be ever in your favour.

For most Indonesians, it would be a total mistake if you are going to Sanur without visiting this place. The restaurant offers you tasty and delicious fish soup and fried fish with rice – yes, as simple as that but the taste would leave you wanting for another portion. While enjoying the soup, make sure to look at its walls covered with photos of so many famous people who have been and dined in this humble Mak Beng restaurant. Yes, do not judge a restaurant by its look because taste never lies.

Art lovers should not miss this one. Still located in Sanur, the museum displays paintings created by a Belgium artist, Adrien Jean Le Mayeur. The place was actually the home of the artist himself with his Balinese wife. These paintings picture the artist experience while travelling to Indian, Africa and South Pacific. Definitely an anti-mainstream place to be posted on your Instagram!
